Quick start
Hides anything already out of stock. Takes about a minute.
After the scan, real-time webhooks handle every future change.
On a paid plan, hide sold-out variants and the /collections/all page.

Getting started
I just installed. What should I do first?
Click Scan now and hide on the Dashboard. It walks through your whole catalog once and hides anything already out of stock. After that, real-time webhooks handle every future change automatically.
How does the app decide what to hide?
A product is hidden when its total tracked inventory reaches your threshold (keep it at 0 for completely sold out). Products with "continue selling when out of stock" or no inventory tracking are protected.
How do I protect specific products from being hidden?
Two ways. For a handful of named products, use Settings → Never hide these products on the Dashboard, or click Never hide next to a product in the Hidden Products tab. For a whole group, add a tag (e.g. nohide, pre-order) to those products and add the same tag under Settings → Skip these tags (Starter, Pro, or Unlimited). Either way the product stays visible even at zero stock, and both also stop the variant-hide feature from touching it.
What permissions does the app need?
Read & write products (to hide/show), read inventory (to detect stock changes), read themes (for the optional storefront embed), write online store navigation (for SEO-safe redirects on Pro), and write publications (to hide sold-out variants). No customer, order, or payment data is ever requested.
How it works
Is it real-time, and what happens on restock?
Yes. Shopify's inventory webhooks trigger hides and un-hides within seconds. A daily safety-net sync at 03:00 UTC catches anything missed.
Will it slow down my store or hurt SEO?
Core product hiding runs through Shopify's Admin API. The optional storefront features use a small app embed only when enabled. Hidden products briefly return 404 (Google treats this as temporary) and are re-indexed normally once restocked.
Does it work with my theme and Shopify Plus?
Yes to both. Hiding flips the product's status in Shopify (Active ↔ Draft), so any theme respects it. For very large Plus catalogs (over 15,000 products), the Unlimited plan removes the product cap.
Can I un-hide a product manually?
Yes. Open it in Shopify admin and set status back to Active. The app won't re-hide it unless inventory is still zero.
Can the app hide individual out-of-stock variants too?
Yes, on any paid plan (Starter, Pro, or Unlimited). Turn on Hide unavailable variants on the Dashboard. When every unit of a size or colour sells out, that option is unpublished from your storefront automatically, and re-published once it's restocked. Their photos go too. It works on every theme with no setup, and products with an exclusion tag are skipped.
What happens to the URL of a hidden product?
By default it returns a 404 (Google treats this as temporary). On the Pro or Unlimited plan, enable Redirect hidden URLs to send those URLs to the first collection the product belongs to. SEO link equity is preserved and customers stay on your store.
Can I hide products before they are completely sold out?
Yes, on any paid plan (Starter, Pro, or Unlimited). In Settings, set Hide when stock is low to the total sellable quantity you want. A value of 0 keeps the standard sold-out rule. Products with untracked inventory or “continue selling” remain protected.
Plans & data
I'm on Free with more than 100 products. What happens?
Auto-hide pauses for new out-of-stocks until you upgrade. Restored items still come back automatically, so we never trap your data.
How do I change, cancel, or uninstall?
Paid plans include a one-time 7-day free trial per store. Change or cancel anytime from the Plans page. Shopify pro-rates upgrades; cancellations stay active until the end of the billing period. Uninstalling purges local app data within seconds.
Before you uninstall: any products this app has hidden stay hidden. Uninstalling removes our access to your store, so we cannot put them back afterwards. To bring them back first, turn Auto-hide off on the main page, then click Restore all hidden products in the note that appears.
Do you store any customer data?
No. We only store product IDs, collection IDs, your settings, and event logs. No customer or order data is ever read or stored. See the privacy policy.
Need a hand?
Every email reaches a real person. We usually reply within 12 hours.
1Auto-hide products when sold outFree
The core feature. When a product's total tracked inventory reaches your chosen threshold (0 means completely sold out), the app hides it from your storefront. When stock recovers, it comes back automatically. Nothing for you to remember.
- On the Dashboard, make sure the Running pill is green at the top. If it says "Paused", click Resume auto-hide.
- That's it for setup. Whenever a product's total tracked inventory reaches your threshold, the app changes its status to Draft, so customers no longer see it. Untracked and “continue selling” products stay protected.
- When you restock that product above the threshold, the app sets its status back to Active the same way, visible on the storefront again shortly after Shopify reports the change.
- Every action is logged. You can review the count on the dashboard tiles (hidden today, this week, this month) and see every individual product in the Hidden Products tab.
- Apparel store: a popular size sells out, so the product hides instantly and customers don't see "Sold out" and bounce.
- Single-SKU food / supplements: when a flavor sells out, the page hides until restock; no manual housekeeping.
2Run a manual scanFree
The Scan now and hide button checks every product in your catalog and hides anything that currently matches your rules. Useful as a one-shot cleanup whenever you're not sure if everything is in sync.
- On the Dashboard, find the Scan now and hide button (top of the page).
- Click it. A progress indicator shows while it runs, usually under a minute for small stores and a few minutes for large catalogs.
- When it finishes, every out-of-stock product is hidden, and any previously-hidden product that's been restocked is un-hidden.
- The dashboard's "Last scan" timestamp updates so you know when it last ran.
- First install: click it once to sweep up everything that's been sold out for a while.
- After a CSV import: you add 200 new products, some already at 0 stock, and one scan handles them all.
3Limit to specific collectionsStarter+
By default the app watches every product in your store. If you only want it to manage certain collections (e.g. just your Shoes collection but not Accessories), switch to scoped mode.
- On the Dashboard, scroll to the Apply to section.
- Switch from All products to Selected collections.
- Click Select collections and pick one or more collections from your store.
- Save. From now on, the app only hides/restores products inside those collections. Everything outside is left untouched.
- To go back to watching the whole store, switch the toggle back to All products.
- Mixed store: auto-hide apparel only, and keep accessories (which never really "sell out") visible.
- Seasonal control: limit to "Summer 2026" so winter inventory isn't affected.
4Skip tagged productsStarter+
Sometimes you want to protect specific products from being auto-hidden, even when they sell out. Tag them in Shopify, then tell the app to skip those tags.
- On the Dashboard, find the Skip these tags field.
- Type a tag name (e.g. nohide, preorder, backorder-ok) and press Enter to add it.
- Add as many tags as you need. Each becomes a chip you can click to remove later.
- In Shopify Admin, open any product you want to protect → add the same tag in the product's Tags field → save.
- From now on the app leaves tagged products alone. They stay visible even with zero stock.
- Pre-orders: tag with "preorder" so the page stays visible at 0 stock and customers can order ahead.
- Made-to-order: tag with "mto" since stock count doesn't reflect reality, so don't hide.
5Never hide specific productsFree
Some products should stay live no matter what: a launch you are about to announce, a preorder, a hero product you always want visible. Mark them as protected and the app leaves them alone, and brings back any it had already hidden.
- On the Dashboard, in the Settings card, find Never hide these products.
- Click Protect products and pick one or more products from your store. You can also click Never hide next to any product in the Hidden Products tab.
- It saves right away, then a short background scan re-checks your rules.
- From now on those products stay visible even when they are out of stock, have no photo, or fall outside a watched collection. If the app had already hidden one, it is set back to Active.
- To remove protection, click the × on a product chip. Normal rules apply to it again from the next scan.
- Upcoming launch: protect the product a week before you announce it, so an early stock sync can't hide it.
- Hero product: your best seller never blinks out, even in the minute between a sellout and a restock.
6Hide when stock is lowStarter+
By default a product hides only when it is completely sold out. On Starter, Pro, and Unlimited you can set a number, and any tracked product whose total sellable stock falls to that number or below is hidden early.
- Make sure your store is on Starter or Pro. On Free this row shows a "Paid" lock and a "Compare plans" link.
- On the Dashboard, in the Settings card, find Hide when stock is low.
- Type the quantity you want as the cut-off. For example, 3 hides a product once it has 3 or fewer units left across all its variants. Click Save.
- A background scan then applies the new rule across your catalog. Products already at or below the number are hidden.
- To go back to the standard sold-out behaviour, set it to 0 and Save.
- Last units damaged: the final 2 of a run are shopworn, so hide at 2 and deal with them offline.
- Reserve for regulars: hold back 5 units for wholesale or repeat buyers by hiding the public listing at 5.
7Hide products without photosStarter+
A product without a photo looks unfinished on your storefront. This setting hides them automatically until you upload an image, then restores them.
- On the Dashboard, scroll to Rules and find Hide products without photos.
- Flip the toggle ON. The app immediately scans your catalog and hides any product with zero images.
- When you add a photo to a hidden product in Shopify Admin, the app restores it after Shopify reports the change, provided it also meets the stock rule.
- To turn it off, flip the toggle back. Any product that was hidden only because of "no photo" is restored.
- Mid-import cleanup: bulk-import 100 products via CSV with photos uploaded later, so no half-baked listings leak to the storefront.
- Brand consistency: a strict "every product has a hero shot" rule, auto-enforced.
8Hide unavailable variantsStarter+
When a single variant of a product sells out (e.g. size M), this hides just that variant from the variant picker on your storefront, leaving the rest of the product available. No theme code needed.
- On the Dashboard, in the Rules section, turn ON Hide unavailable variants.
- The next time any product variant hits 0 inventory, the app unpublishes just that variant from the Online Store channel.
- On your storefront, that size/color disappears from the picker. Its photo is removed from the gallery. Other variants are unaffected, and the product page stays live.
- When you restock that variant above 0, it re-appears within ~10 seconds.
- To turn off and restore every variant the app ever hid, flip the toggle off. Even variants still at 0 stock will be made visible again.
- Sneakers: only sizes 9 and 10 are in stock, so the customer never sees disabled buttons for 7, 8, 11, 12.
- Colorways: the black variant is sold out, so the picker shows only the colors actually available.
9Hide /collections/all pageStarter+
Shopify generates a raw "all products" page at /collections/all that lists every single product. This setting redirects visitors away from it to your homepage, so they only see your curated collections.
- On the Dashboard, find the Storefront features section.
- Click Open theme editor. Shopify's theme editor opens in a new tab.
- In the theme editor, find the App embeds panel (left side, bottom). Turn ON the Hide Out of Stock app embed and click Save.
- Back in the app dashboard, the Hide /collections/all toggle is now enabled. Flip it ON.
- Test: visit yourstore.com/collections/all. You'll be redirected to your homepage instead of the raw list.
- Curated storefront: force shoppers to discover via your hand-picked collections, not a raw product dump.
- Hide pricing leaks: /collections/all sometimes reveals draft or test products. The redirect kills that risk.
10Redirect hidden URLsPro
When a product gets hidden, its product page URL would normally 404 for any visitor with the link saved or coming in from Google. This feature sends them to a related collection instead, saving SEO juice and recovering lost traffic.
- Make sure your store is on the Pro plan. (On Free or Starter, this row is greyed out with a "Compare plans" link.)
- On the Dashboard, in the Rules section, turn ON Redirect hidden URLs.
- From now on, whenever a product is hidden by the app, the app creates a redirect from /products/that-product to a related collection page.
- When the product is restocked and un-hidden, the redirect is removed automatically, and the product page loads normally again.
- Turn it off any time. Existing redirects are cleaned up.
- Popular sold-out item: Google still ranks the old URL, so visitors land on related products instead of a 404.
- Influencer link: someone shared a sold-out product on Instagram, so followers see alternatives, not an error.
11View, search & export hidden productsFree
Every product the app hides is logged. The Hidden Products tab is your audit trail: search, jump to any product in Shopify, or export the whole list as a spreadsheet.
- Click Hidden Products in the top nav (or the "View hidden products" link on the dashboard).
- You'll see every currently-hidden product with its photo, SKU, name, collections, and the date/time it was hidden.
- Type in the Search box to filter by SKU or product name. Clear to see all again.
- Click any SKU or product name to open the product directly in Shopify's product editor.
- Click Export CSV to download a spreadsheet of the entire list: SKU, title, collections, hidden date.
- Restock planning: export CSV and hand it to your buyer as a clear shopping list of what to reorder.
- Manager report: "what's currently sold out?" Show the list or send the CSV.
12Plans, trials & billingAll plans
Free, Starter, Pro, and Unlimited plans are all available from the Plans tab. Every paid plan starts with a 7-day free trial. No charge until the trial ends, and you can cancel any time.
- Click Plans in the top nav. You'll see all four plans side by side with features and pricing.
- Toggle between Monthly and Yearly. Yearly saves about 17% (two months free).
- Click the button under the plan you want. It reads Start free trial if your trial is still available, or Switch to Pro if you are already on a paid plan. Shopify's billing approval screen appears. Review and click Approve.
- You're back in the app on the new plan, with any free trial days you still have left. The header pill updates to show your current plan. The trial is one-time per store, so it does not restart when you change plans.
- To cancel: open the Plans tab and click Switch to Free. Your paid subscription cancels; you stay on the paid features until the billing period ends, then drop to Free.
- Just testing: stay on Free, which covers up to 100 products and the core auto-hide flow.
- Growing store: Starter unlocks collection scope, skip tags, and the photo / variant / collections-all rules at a 1,000-product limit.
- Very large catalog: Unlimited removes the product cap entirely, for stores over Pro's 15,000-product limit.
Settings
nohide or preorder) and the app will never hide or restore it, no matter what stock it has./collections/all/collections/all that lists every product in your store. This sends visitors who land there to your homepage instead.
